The Football Safety Department of the Ministry of the Interior is funding three innovative projects focused on football safety. Two projects from i4S partners and one from the Pro League were selected by an independent jury. The i4S projects concentrate on digital access control and the development of a Football Safety Barometer. Professor Gert Vermeulen will initiate the development of a legal framework for the use of biometric data, aiming to achieve smooth and secure access control in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines. Additionally, the university will provide concrete recommendations for potential amendments to the (Football) Law. Professor Wim Hardyns will lead the development of the Football Safety Barometer.
