i4S partners with KAA Gent and Perfect-ID for Biometric Authentication Project

KAA Gent, renowned for its commitment to providing top-notch experiences for its fans, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Perfect-ID. This project, funded by Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO), will implement the Palmki palm authentication system, enhancing comfort and safety at the stadium by enabling authentication through hand palm scans. At the access gates, a handpalmscan will be compared with a previously uploaded profile, linking the ticket digitally and preventing entry of spectators with a stadium ban. UGent will advise this project on the development of digital security solutions, ensuring the principles of “security and privacy by design”. The Palm Vein technology is set to revolutionize the football experience and supporter interactions. Therefore, current processes such as registration, ticketing, and access control need to be thoroughly analyzed to identify the actual needs of the target groups. Their involvement in the co-creation of the solution is essential for its success. Moreover, UGent will focus on the interactions between humans, technology, and society, aiming to align the use cases and interfaces with the needs and expectations of the specific target groups: (1) season ticket holders, (2) business clients, (3) staff, and (4) away match supporters. This will maximize the adoption potential of Palm Vein technology.
